A week from today, Thrive Knoxville will present Living Windows, Knoxville’s annual kick-off to the holiday season, which will be held on the square in downtown Knoxville from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st.  Living Windows will feature over 15 local vendors who will sell or give out food as well as carolers and horse drawn carriage rides. The square will also feature the annual holiday decorated windows with local community and school groups being featured in many of the windows and businesses. There will be activities for children, including Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Grand Theater from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. The Marion County Courthouse will be decorated and the annual tree lighting on the courthouse lawn will follow the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Snow Ball Drop at 5:30 PM. Director of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Hannah Vander Veer tells KNIA/KRLS News what people can expect with the first ever Snow Ball Drop. Vander Veer says hundreds of ping pong balls will be dropped different business deals on them. She says Santa will drop the balls at 5:30 and each snowball will correspond with a local business in town that is having a special on Small Business Saturday, the following Saturday on November 30th. Vander Veer says people will be able to collect three snowballs per person with participants needing to be 18 years of age or older. She says participants can then take the balls to the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and receive their certificate to use on Small Business Saturday. The annual Wreath Auction will also be held in the Courthouse rotunda throughout the evening. More information can be found on Facebook by searching for Living Windows – Knoxville, Iowa.
