American Legion Post 89 held a ceremony this week gifting Quilts of Valor to area veterans and service members. In total, 28 local veterans were presented the gifts by the local veterans organization and the American Legion Auxiliary. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. Locally, the Pella Quilts of Valor Group is organized by The Quilted Windmill.
