Local veterans had the opportunity to brave the weather Monday morning to enjoy a free breakfast at the National Guard Armory in Knoxville that was provided by the Knoxville Hy-Vee. All active duty military, veterans and their families were treated to a free breakfast to give thanks for their service to the country. Hundreds of veterans once again filled the armory which also featured different veteran groups on hand to let the veterans know about the services they provide. Marion County Veterans Affairs Service Officer, Mike Kuhn tells KNIA/KRLS News what he was there to let the veterans know what services he can provide, where he is located as well as help the veterans with any questions they might have. Kuhn says the breakfast is always a great event and is even better when you still see everyone show up despite the bad weather as a little snow and ice isn’t going to keep these veterans down. Veteran groups in attendance Monday included; Wreaths Across America, Knoxville VFW Post 3519, American Legion Post 146, AMVETS as well as the Marion County Democrats and Republicans.
