Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig made a speech and answered questions as part of a Central College event Tuesday morning. Naig spoke in the Cox-Snow Recital Hall to a crowd made up of students and faculty about water quality in the state and ongoing programs in the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Naig says he was able to engage with students about efforts in the state’s Water Quality Initiative and what practices have been effective so far and where they need to improve, especially as it relates to nitrates flowing into the Mississippi River basin. Naig also discussed issues surrounding this year’s harvest and ongoing international trade issues.
