Pella Corporation is anticipating a reduction of workforce, according to an announcement made today.

Pella Corporation is first offering volunteer retirement incentives to eligible members, eliminating currently open positions, and invoking involuntary separation for a portion of salaried and office non-exempt positions. The workforce reduction will not impact production workers and will include outplacement services and a transition package for those released. About one percent of the company’s employees nationwide will be affected by involuntary separation.

The changes are coming after Pella Corp says they experienced significant growth in business, but at the same time, the industry has seen unprecedented consolidation of competitors and changes in consumer demands. Pella committed in the release that they intend to remain a vital member in the communities they operate in and that the reductions are necessary to remain competitive in the future.

“Cost reduction decisions are difficult yet necessary for our long-term sustainability. No decisions were taken lightly. Significant care and thought went into each one. We believe these changes are necessary for us to effectively and profitably compete in a rapidly changing environment and for our company to be viable into the future.”
