With the newly elected Indianola School Board sworn in this week, the new members will have a crash course in school board training to get up to speed in their new positions. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News just one meeting in, the new members of Rob Keller, Ben Metzger, Sue Wilson, and Donna Kreamer, were acclimating to their new role.
“There are definitely things that are specific to Iowa school finance, local context they have to learn about, and I think a lot of it is seeing things through a different lens. When you are suddenly needing to make decisions that impact an entire system, that’s a different lens than you might have previously looked through. We have a great group of board members, and I am very impressed by what I have seen from them, and they all have the best interests of students at heart.”
The entire board will be attending the Iowa Association of School Boards Conference today and tomorrow to help learn the new terminology and procedures.
