Tonight is the night the Knoxville community will kick off the holiday season as Thrive Knoxville will present Living Windows on the square in downtown Knoxville from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature over 15 local vendors who will sell or give out food as well as carolers and horse drawn carriage rides. Lindsey Carlson with Thrive Knoxville tells KNIA/KRLS News the event will also include a wreath auction held inside the courthouse. Carlson says the auction will be held in the courthouse rotunda at 5:30 and will feature a variety of wreaths crafted by local businesses that will be silent auctioned off until the end of the event at 7:30 p.m. The event will begin with Santa and Mrs. Claus coming into town on a fire truck followed by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce conducting their first ever Snowball Drop where participants can collect up to three ping pong balls with different deals for Small Business Saturday. The annual tree lighting on the south side of the courthouse lawn will follow the Snowball Drop. The square will also feature the annual holiday decorated windows with local community and school groups being featured in many of the windows and businesses. There will also be activities for children, including Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Grand Theater from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Elly Shaw with Thrive Knoxville tells KNIA/KRLS News Living Windows is an iconic Knoxville event that has been held for over 20 years and was started by a local citizen. Shaw says its a great way to see your neighbors and feel like you are a part of the Knoxville community. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will be on hand playing holiday music and collecting donations for the 18th annual KNIA/KRLS Radio Food Drive.
