The deadline to apply for assistance from Operation Christmas has passed, but the organization is still taking donations for the holiday season. Heather Williams with Operation Christmas tells KNIA News monetary donations are preferred because they let families choose their own gifts, and can be dropped off at The Helping Hand, just make sure to designate it for Operation Christmas, or they can be mailed in. Operation Christmas is organized by the Indianola Ministerial Association, and provides families with the means to give children Christmas presents and a Christmas meal who would otherwise not have one. Over 450 children were helped by Operation Christmas in 2018, and Christmas Dinner was provided for 250 families.
