The Indianola City Council will be holding several public hearings at upcoming meetings, dealing with potential changes to city codes and zoning regulations. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News two of the hearings will deal with changing codes to better represent businesses in today’s world that the old regulations did not take into account.

“With any sort of codes, different sort of things come up. Air BnB’s is a new thing that has come up, so there will be a public hearing addressing bed and breakfasts and Air BnB’s. Another thing that came up is regarding breweries, at the request from a local business owner. They are currently operating out of another establishment, and their liquor license, when applying to our zoning code, only allows for distribution on site. Their business plan is to sell elsewhere and our code does not currently allow that.”

The public hearings are both scheduled for December 16th.
