The Simpson Storm men’s basketball team split a pair of one-point games in their weekend tournament Friday and Saturday, falling to Carroll in game one 71-70, then winning a high volume game against Greenville 161-160. Against Carroll, no lead was higher than six points in a game that saw 15 lead changes. The Storm were down two with no time on the clock and a foul sent forward Adam Reiter to the free throw line for a 1-and-1, but the second shot was missed and the buzzer sounded to end the Storms four-game winning streak. Fireworks were on display in the second game of the tournament, as Simpson scored 63 first half points but still found themselves down by six at the halftime break. The Storm put up a whopping 79 in the second half, and forced overtime, where they put up another 19 points and clawed away with the victory. Adam Reiter scored 38 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Conor Riordan led the way with 39 points and 8 assists. The Storm are now 5-2 on the season, and will next play on Tuesday to start American Rivers Conference play.
