A Knoxville man was arrested Saturday following an alleged assault that caused multiple facial fractures to the victim. According to court documents law enforcement officers responded to the report of an assault which had occurred in the 700 block of North McKinley Street in Knoxville Saturday evening. When officers arrived they found the victim bleeding from the nose and mouth. According to the victim, 31-year-old John Murray of Knoxville assaulted him. Officers were told that Murray ran away from the area but law enforcement was able to find Murray on Rock Island Street. Murray told officers that the victim had been calling him names so he grabbed the victim’s shirt and the victim fell to the ground with him on top. Officers saw blood on Murray’s hand. The victim told officers that Murray had choked him with his shirt causing him to lose consciousness and when the victim woke up he was bloody. The victim underwent a medical examination and it was determined he had received multiple facial fractures. Murray was arrested and charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony.
