All area high school students were invited to explore apprenticeships at the Career Academy of Pella at a recruitment night event. Dozens of parents and students from the area came to an open house on Monday in the Pella High School commons. The Pella School District offers a unique educational experience that pairs classroom learning with on-the-job experience in welding, engineering, culinary arts, nursing, and early childhood education, providing certification while earning a wage through apprenticeships. Twelve local businesses met with potential recruits from throughout the region to gauge the kids’ interest in coming to work while earning credit for their high school and potential college or post-secondary certifications.
