As travelers begin to hit area roadways this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Knoxville Police Department would like to remind travelers to be careful and plan accordingly. Lieutenant Aaron Fuller with the Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News one way he would like to see people plan ahead is to make sure they have a designated driver before deciding to have a few drinks. Lieutenant Fuller says residents can make sure their homes are safe while they are away by letting a neighbor know they will be gone or to even call the police department and request extra patrols in their neighborhood while they are gone. He says it’s important that you don’t put yourself or others in danger while traveling this holiday season and to just take your time because everyone wants to see you get to your destination.
