There will be a few new faces on the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad this season. One that will certainly look to make an immediate impact is a move-in from Des Moines Christian, Spencer Hixson. As a sophomore for the Lions, Hixson averaged just over three points per game and was one of the better shooters making 47% of his shots and draining 38% from the three-point line. Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson is looking forward to seeing how Hixson fits into the scheme and the prospects of taking a little pressure off of Kieren Nichols.

Larson:
“He likes to play outside more than he does inside. We’re going to have to get him inside a little bit, and work on some guys down low. He is a good outside perimeter player, and he gives us another handler. We have Kieren handle the ball quite a bit, with him in a game he can handle it a bit, take a little bit of pressure off of Kieren, so we’re looking forward to that combination.”

Nichols will still be Knoxville’s go-to player. He averaged 19.8 points per game last season and dealt out 93 assists. Hear more from Jeff Larson on today’s Knoxville Hy-Vee Radio Coaches Corner on 92.1 KRLS at 10:00am.
