Athletes with the Knoxville Special Olympics team recently took part in a state bowling competition which was held at Bowlerama Lanes in Des Moines. Three competitors, including eighth graders Avery Moore and Stacia Mason as well as sixth grader Caylee Pettyjohn took home first place trophies with sophomore Leo Lewis-Plum taking second place. This is the first year Knoxville has had a Special Olympic team as part of the school. The team also plans to participate in the Basketball Skills competitions in January and Track and Field events in April.
