Indianola Basketball Squads Start Conference Play at Norwalk
The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams will start Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight on the road at Norwalk. The Indians girls have targeted being atop the conference at season’s end as one of their goals this season, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports it won’t be easy.
“Defending champ Grinnell is going to be fantastic, you can’t ever think Pella is gonna go away. Norwalk is gonna rebound, Pella Christian gave us all we wanted last year and beat us on our home court last year. But I think we if we continue to progress by late January or February I hope our name is out there at the top and contending for a conference title.”
The Indians boys lost a heartbreaker to Fort Dodge in their season opener at Fort Dodge, and have battled illness to start the season leaving them shorthanded. The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15pm.
