Minnesota Senator and Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Amy Klobuchar held a campaign event in Indianola at The Corner Sundry Friday morning. Klobuchar spoke with potential voters on a range of issues including her family ties to Iowa, her qualifications as a candidate for President, and her knowledge of the difficulties farmers face today.
“When you look at our rural economy, the increase in farm bankruptcies nationally is up 25%. Add I actually passed a bill this year as the lead Democrat with Senator Grassley, that focused on allowing farmers to keep operating more during these bankruptcies. We actually passed it, the President signed it into law, and for some reason he didn’t have a bill signing ceremony for it, perhaps because he doesn’t want to focus on all the farm bankruptcies and the problems that his trade war has brought.”
The stop in Indianola was just one of four events across south central Iowa for Klobuchar, which included stops in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Dubuque.
