The Melcher Dallas Saints had a double header of hoops last night as the boys and girls hosted the Southeast Warren Warhawks. The Girls fell short after a tight game, losing 82-75.
The offense was led by Freshman Destinie Swanks with 19 points and Junior Kynser Reed with 16 points.
The boys were able to catch their first win of the season, winning 73-59. With Head Coach Jim Wells out last night, it was Assistant Coach Pat Feruson who took over the sidelines. After the win, Coach Ferguson was pleased with how hard the boys played.
“The one thing I’ve been trying to stress with them is pressing the ball when we have to, if we don’t have it, pull it back out, run our offense, and we have some very good shooters from the outside when they get going, but our whole thing is, we have five, six seven pretty deep athletes that can go up and down the court all night long, and that’s what they did tonight, they went from baseline to baseline, and at the end of the game they said they could have kept going, so our conditioning is there, like I said, first win, we’ll take it.”
Ryan Krpan had the offense running smooth as he racked up 7 assists and really got the whole team involved in the offense.
The Saints boys and girls will be back on the court this Saturday when they travel to take on Cardinal High School, tip off is at 3pm for the girls, with the boys following right after.
