On January 23rd, 2019 the roof of the Knoxville Raceway Tire and Exhaust building collapses under the weight of heavy snow. Due to the collapse, the business had to find a new building to operate from and did so a few weeks later moving to a temporary location just south of Knoxville. This past Friday, the concrete floor was poured at the businesses new location behind the Knoxville Veterinary Clinic. Owner Travis Thomopson tells KNIA/KRLS News he was excited to see the concrete being poured for the new location. He says he knows it took a little bit longer than he was hoping for but he wanted to make sure a building was built that would service the Knoxville community and the surrounding communities extremely well. Thompson says they wanted to make sure things were done right when building the new location. He says the new facility will have an additional service bay, a bigger parking lot and better traffic flow for people coming and going. He says he hopes to have the new building up and running in four to five months. Thompson says he is grateful for the Knoxville community for sticking with the business in their time of need and transition between buildings. He says without the people in Knoxville, none of this would be possible. To hear the complete interview with Thompson tune it to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
