The Pella Bowling teams split to start the 2019-20 season Saturday, with the boys winning at Norwalk 2472-2377 and the Lady Dutch falling 1573-1657 to the Warriors at Val Lanes in West Des Moines. Pella’s boys were led by individual two-game scores of 378 by Travis Ware, 376 by Matt DeJong, and 362 by Reid Miller, while Megan Jennings was the top Lady Dutch bowler at 238, followed by 229 from Sierra Vander Weerdt and Courtney Duinink’s 223. Pella will host Centerville at Pella Excit-a-Bowl Tuesday.

Pella Christian’s boys and girls teams fell to Oskaloosa Saturday, with the Eagles boys scoring 2278 to the Indians’ 2998, and the girls dropping their opening meet 1933-2390. The boys were led by Cameron Vander Wal with a 348 two-game series. Austin Moorman was close behind at 301 and Austin VanKooten posted a score of 296. The girls were led by Alayna VanKooten with a two-game series of 317, followed by Kendra Branderhorst with 288 and Aundrea Steen at 279.
