The Pella City Council will receive a presentation of a master plan developed for the Southside Beautification Project along Oskaloosa Street following their final regular meeting of the year this Tuesday. A review of potential options to revitalize the site of the former coal power plant will be held during a presentation by Civil Design Advantage, the firm the city hired to develop concepts for development ideas. In the concepts, three different visions will be shared with council, all of which include additional tulip beds or fields, gathering space, parking, and other amenities aiming to turn the currently vacant spot into a main attraction of a larger-scale redevelopment of the Oskaloosa Street corridor. During the regular meeting, the Pella City Council will consider a resolution to accept the Oskaloosa Street Corridor Development Guidelines drafted by Snyder and Associates, which lays the groundwork for the City of Pella to proceed with the next phases of planning, which could include a potential streetscape, zoning recommendations, and potential urban renewal areas and economic development policies. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
