The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams will head their separate ways tonight for a pair of non-conference games, with the girls heading to Des Moines North and the boys hosting Bondurant-Farrar. The Indians girls are looking to recover from a loss to conference foe Pella last friday evening in a back and forth game that snapped a two-game winning streak. Action starts at 6:15pm. The Indians boys are coming off of a huge win over the Little Dutch, and head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports the growth of freshman forward Drew Kingery has a lot to do with how well the Indians are playing to start the season, including a 14 point performance in the last contest.
“He’s played well for us. And you have to remember, at this time last year he was playing in 8th grade ball. Not in a situation like this, with this many fans. And he’s just, I believe gonna get better and better with each new experience. There’s gonna be some ups and downs as all of our team is going to experience, but there is a huge ceiling for that kid and i’m proud to coach him.”
The boys game begins at 7:45pm.
