The Pella School Board held their final meeting of 2019 Monday afternoon. The board reviewed feedback on the district’s current facility plan from community groups, including what projects are prioritized and written comments received. Broad support existed for expansion and renovation of Jefferson Intermediate School and Pella Middle School, construction of a new facility for a potential Early Childhood Center, and HVAC system improvements to Pella High School. With more refinement, those projects may be included in a potential bond issue in 2020. The board established the timeline for Superintendent Greg Ebeling’s annual review and brainstormed ideas for long-term goal setting. A P.E. waiver for the next academic year, a high school choir trip in 2021, and a job description for a new public relations coordinator position were all approved as well.
