While this year’s Pella Christian boys basketball squad is off to a great start and figures to be contending for a deep playoff run this February, the school will celebrate its first and greatest championship team in January.

This season marks the 30th anniversary since the Eagles boys ran the table to become an undefeated state champion, the first of three in a four year run unmatched by most teams in Iowa basketball history.

The community is invited to celebrate as the documentary “Soar Mighty Eagles” on Thursday, January 16th at the Vermeer Auditorium, with doors opening at 6 p.m. A tribute to the team, with all members returning, will be held during the Friday, January 17th doubleheader against Oskaloosa. This year’s Eagles boys will wrap up the 2019 portion of their season this Friday with the girls as they travel to Indianola, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
