indianola-3

With both teams out to a 1-1 start in Little Hawkeye Conference play, the Indianola girls and boys basketball teams are set to host the Eagles of Pella Christian tonight. The Indians boys come in hot, winners of three games in a row after an 0-2 start, but face an Eagles squad that will have an easy height advantage, especially with 6’9 forward Josh Van Gorp who is averaging over 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. The Indians girls are looking to recover after a loss against the Lady Dutch of Pella, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA News the Indians have to execute better on finishing possessions.

“Whether it’s finishing off of one foot or two, with contact, into a double team, whatever the case may be we have worked on it. And I think it comes down to reps, it comes down to confidence, its comes down to girls understanding that they are getting to the spots we need them to get to and now let’s put the ball in the hole.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15pm.
