A pair of road trips await the Pella and Pella Christian basketball teams as they close out the year 2019. The Dutch hit the road to Norwalk while the Eagles head to Indianola to continue Little Hawkeye Conference Action.
Both boys teams are trying to bounce back from tough league losses last Friday, as both Pella and Pella Christian fell to the team the other will face tonight. Pella Head Coach Derek Schulte will travel to take on Bowen Born and the high-octane Warriors, a team figuring to contend not only for the Little Hawkeye crown, but the top prize in Class 3A.
After their first loss of the year, the Eagles boys will contend with an Indians team that has won three in a row and has proven to be a tough out despite a largely new varsity roster, especially at the top of their scoring leaderboard.
The Lady Dutch have posted identical 54-52 scores in two wins in a row, and are looking to build on that momentum against a young, but full of potential Norwalk team that Head Coach Jerod Garland says could be up to the challenge and provide another close, thrilling game for the girls in green.
Pella Christian’s girls are still seeking their first win of the season, and will have quite a challenge, as they’ll have to contain Indianola’s Kendall Clatt and Lauren Blake, who are the league’s top and third best scorers respectively.
Pella at Norwalk begins with their girls-boys doubleheader on 92.1 KRLS, with pregame at 6 p.m., while the Eagles and Indians will be featured at the same time on the KRLS2 stream.
