Melcher-Dallas will host arch-rival Twin Cedars for an early-season clash of the Marion County small schools. Twin Cedars has not got out well for boys or girls, with just one victory between the two teams. Girls senior players Kaya DesPlanque and Athena Bruns tell KRLS Sports they know the Melcher-Dallas players well enough that they are friends off the court, but that friendship is set aside when the ball goes up.

Kaya:
“All those girls I know them all personally and once I get on that court my mean face goes on and I definitely want to go against them and be aggressive.”

Athena:
“They’re our rivals but they’re also our friends which we set aside on the court and play like any other game.”

Both Saber boys and girls are looking to take care of the ball, something they have been struggling with this season. The girls game is set to tip at 6:00pm with the boys to follow at Melcher-Dallas.
