The City of Indianola is in the process of updating city codes to better match those in the area and to keep up with current best practices. Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News one of the reasons changing the codes helps economically is that builders and contractors don’t have to change what they are doing if they are moving from city to city on jobs.
“What that does is that really benefits the contractors in the area, so for example you have a plumber that isn’t working on a different set of codes when working in Indianola, or a different one in Norwalk, or Pleasant Hill, and it just puts everyone economically on an even playing field.”
The city will also be holding a meeting with contractors in 2020 to get their feedback on how the city can best serve the community.
