Two Pella football alumni played National Championship football over the weekend.
Chase Carter, a 2019 graduate, hit the final point for Morningside in their 40-38 win over Marian; it’s the Mustangs second straight title win. Carter, a freshman this season, was the primary kicker for the champions, going 4-for-5 on point-after-attempts in the finale Saturday.
A former Pella All-State lineman and state champion ended up as a national runner-up in NCAA Division II, as Garret Jansen and Minnesota State fell 48-40 in the championship round against South Florida Saturday. Jansen finished with a tackle for a loss in his final collegiate game.
