A stretch of well above average temperatures will continue for the region throughout the region well beyond the Christmas holiday. While the warmth won’t approach any records, afternoon highs in the mid 40s to low 50s will continue for south central Iowa through this coming weekend, with overnight lows hovering near or above the freezing mark. That dashes the dreams of those wanting a White Christmas, which according to Meteorologist Andrew Ansorge with the National Weather Service, is a nearly 50-50 proposition each year. The typical daytime high for Christmas Day in Marion County is near 32 degrees. No weather-related travel issues are anticipated this week locally.
