Facing their toughest competition to date, the Pella wrestling team finished 5th at the Bill Van Horn invitational held in the Tulip City Saturday. The Dutch grapplers scored 136 team points, with conference rival Norwalk earning the first place trophy at 252 points. Ryan Hancock won the 113 weight class title. Ryan Van Donselaar (145), Ethan Milligan (160), and Brayden Peterson (285) were all 3rd place finishers in their respective brackets. Head Coach Jay Pike says this weekend’s tournament was a great chance before winter break to see how this year’s lineup stacks up against tough competition, with time to fine tune over the next two weeks of competition. Pella is off until they travel to face tournament champion Norwalk on Thursday, January 9th.
