The puppy named Zena who allegedly received abuse at the hands of 36-year-old Nathan Adams of Knoxville has found her forever home and is continuing to improve each day according to President of the Board for the Marion County Humane Society, Leslie VanderLinden. VanderLinden tells KNIA/KRLS News she is in disbelief as to how happy Zena is despite being through so much. VanderLinden says Zena can walk, run and play with other dogs and is a very happy dog. According to VanderLinden, Zena has already had a successful surgery on one of her legs with her veterinarian wanting to wait and see on surgery for the second leg. She says Zena’s owners should find out this week if Zena will be able to have surgery on her other leg. Zena was confiscated from a home in Knoxville in October after law enforcement officers found her in a kennel full of urine and feces, severely malnourished with two broken legs and a puncture wound to her head. Zena’s alleged abuser, Nathan Adams has since been charged with threat explosive or incendiary device, a class D felony, four counts of harassment in the 1st degree, an aggravated misdemeanor, animal torture – 1st offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a serious misdemeanor all stemming from the incident in October. He is currently awaiting trial.
