While the offense has been lagging behind for the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Squad, the defense has been a part of the game that the entire team has not only excelled but have taken pride in. Coach Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports the way they play defense is night and day different from last season to this season.
Verwers:
“We get lots of steals compared to last year at least, we go for steal quite a bit. We’re doing a better job of playing straight up in the post rather than fouling and putting them on the line. It’s just the mindset that the girls have.”
The Sabers are giving up 39.3 points per game this season and went five straight games giving up less than 40 points. The 1-8 Sabers resume their season January 4th at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines against I-35.
