indianola-3

The Indianola boys basketball season started off slow, with the Indians losing their first two opening games with many players seeing some of their first varsity minutes. After their current four-game win streak however, the Indians are starting to build towards what they will look like as the season progresses: a relentless defensive team that can wear teams down late. Head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports what has helped this team grow is having more defined roles for all players.

“I think guys are starting to get a better idea of what is expected of them. Early in the year as you get used to the varsity level, maybe guys had a different idea of what they would be doing. But as they start to fill in and see the impact they can have, we are starting to get better and trending in the right direction.”

Watson also said the holiday break will be huge for his guys to be able to improve, because a lot of the ways they can grow will be in practice and fundamentals work.
