Book sales this Christmas season have been in line with trends over the past several years, with fantasy series and children’s books selling well. Kathy Magruder with Pageturners Bookstore in Indianola tells KNIA News one of the most enjoyable occurrences is when parents get to share a series they read as a child with their children.

“In fact, what we are seeing now is parents who enjoyed the Harry Potter series and other fantasy series that have remained popular and are now sharing them with their children, and I find that to be more fun than just about anything I can think of. I love hearing that parents and kids are getting together and reading the same book every night and enjoying it together.”

Magruder also said graphic novels are selling well for children too, and that after the holidays pass is a great time to get out and buy books.
