With a 5-1 dual record at the Battle of Waterloo tournament, the Indianola wrestling team heads into the break with high spirits and plenty of momentum. The Indians are currently 2-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference action, and head coach Clint Manny tells KNIA Sports the Indians picked up a dual win against Dallas Center-Grimes that cost the Indians an outright conference championship last season, and he looks on that as an early season highlight.
“In the matches where we needed bonus points we went out and got them, and then in matches where we were a little outgunned we fought hard and didn’t give up big points. And that’s really a testament to our senior class going out and being aggressive and doing their job, but also to our young guys for being thrust into a big time environment like that and battling and doing their part for the team.”
The Indians start the second half of their season January 4th hosting a tournament.
