Much of the success that the PCM girls basketball team has had this season has been due to the talent of senior Regan Freland. She leads the team with 20.9 points per game, which is just shy of half of the team’s total scoring. While her contributions are appreciated, Head Coach Jeff Lindsay says others need to step up in order for his team to compete down the stretch. Junior Lilli Baird is one girl he believes can really make a difference once the Christmas break is over.
“Right now she’s getting the shots, she’s just not knocking them down right now. I do see a different style and pace to her. She’s starting to not just look for three-point shots, she’s starting to look to drive it inside. And with as heady of a ball player, she’s only going to get better with that, and with more time to work on it, she’ll be fine.”
Baird is second on the team in scoring with 7.8 points per game, and with a shooting percentage of only 23.9, has the opportunity to be a much larger scoring threat if she can knock more shots down. The 4-4 Mustang girls get back in action on Friday, January 3rd at Roland-Story.
