The month of January will be key for local boys basketball teams trying to improve their standing in the 2020 basketball playoffs. While all teams qualify in both boys and girls action, the brackets in the boys are seeded during two coaches meetings in early February — in Class 1A and 2A during the first week, and in 3A and 4A the following week. This comes after the Iowa High School Athletic Association releases district and substate pods of teams on Friday, January 24th for smaller schools and January 31st for the larger schools.
