The Pella Police Department’s latest hire is looking forward to becoming part of the community and serving its residents. Zachary Nelson will begin his law enforcement career in the City of Pella. Nelson is a graduate of Simpson College and an Urbandale, Iowa native. Nelson says he was excited about the prospect of becoming a part of the Pella community throughout his interview process.

“I was just kind of looking around at agencies and Pella gave me a chance,” he says. “I did some research about the department, really liked the guys around here, and I felt like it would be great to learn from them.”

Nelson will attend the next session of training at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in January, and will be a full-service officer upon graduation.
