As residents celebrate the New Year’s holiday tonight they are reminded about the restricted usage of fireworks in Marion County. The use of fireworks is restricted in Marion County to July 4th only and only in the unincorporated areas of the county. The discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited when a burn ban is in effect for the county. The use of fireworks is banned within the city limits of Knoxville and Pella. Pleasantville will allow the use of fireworks from today between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and continuing through 1:00 a.m. on January 1st. Melcher-Dallas will restrict the use of fireworks during the New Year’s holiday from midnight to 1 a.m. on January 1st. The city of Bussey does not have a city ordinance regarding fireworks and will instead follow the Marion County restrictions.

Any Indianola residents hoping to celebrate the new year by lighting off fireworks can do so today during a specific time period. Normally, the City of Indianola restricts the lighting of fireworks inside city limits, however fireworks are allowed from 9:30am today until 12:30am tomorrow. Fireworks are also allowed on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th inside city limits.
