The PCM basketball teams began the 2020 portion of the campaign at Roland-Story Friday evening in a Heart of Iowa Conference tilt. A dismal second half doomed the Mustang girls, as they fell 63-23 to the seventh-ranked team in Class 3A. The Mustangs kept things close in the first quarter, trailing 13-9 after one. PCM remained within striking distance, trailing by 10 at halftime, but a 28-2 third quarter run by Roland-Story proved to be the difference maker. PCM could only muster two points in the fourth quarter, and were outscored 34-4 in the second half. PCM falls to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The PCM boys gave up a sizeable first half lead and fell in a 65-47 decision. The Mustangs jumped out to a 17-8 lead after one, but the Norsemen trimmed the deficit to 32-29 at the half. A big third quarter for Roland-Story put them up for good, outscoring PCM 21-4 in the period. The Norsemen would coast to the 18-point victory in the fourth. PCM falls to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Mustang boys will be back in action Monday at Earlham in a non-conference boys only affair. The PCM girls will have a whole week off and host South Hamilton next Friday.
