When the nation’s leading three-point shooter and leading scorer is out for a significant portion of the season, the outlook for many teams would be grim. The Simpson women’s basketball team has been without Jenna Taylor for much of the season so far, as she has seen only sparse minutes late in games throughout the year due to a back injury. The Storm are 9-3 on the season, and assistant coach Moran Lonning tells KNIA Sports seeing some of the other players step up into bigger roles will be a huge advantage moving forward.

“It seems like in a game whenever one person gets cold someone else steps up, and it helps a lot that we get a lot of our scoring from our defense as well, so really anyone can score when we are pressing and fast breaking. We are really unselfish as well, I just looked at our rankings in the nation and we are number one in three-pointers made but we are also number three in the nation in assists so I love how unselfish we are being.”

Simpson gets back to action next Wednesday on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan.
