This past spring the Knoxville City Council approved up to $85,000 for Knoxville Fire and Rescue to purchase a used ladder truck for the department. In October, the department announced the acquisition of a used truck from the Clinton Fire Department in Clinton Iowa for $65,000. On Monday, the truck was delivered. Chief Cal Wyman tells KNIA/KRLS News the addition of the truck will mean more advantages for the department when it comes to fire fighting and rescue capabilities but he says the real purpose of the truck is to help lower Knoxville’s Insurance Services Office rating, or ISO, a rating that is used when determining insurance costs for businesses and homeowners. Chief Wyman also wants to thank community partners 3M, Hormel, Weiler and Walmart for helping make the acquisition possible. With the addition of the truck the department will be selling one of their older trucks but will have to store the older trucks at a different location due to the lack of space at the department.
