Luke, Jake, and Will Prater
Three brothers from Milo have accomplished what no other Boy Scout has accomplished in their troop in 30 years, become Eagle Scouts. Luke, Jake, and Will Prater have all recently passed the qualifications to attain the Eagle Scout rank, and tell KNIA News what the process has taught them.
Luke
“How to be a leader. Because I have been the troop’s senior patrol leader for maybe two years now, maybe more than that now. And I think it’s helped me grow as a leader, and I’m gonna try and continue to be a leader in school and in other ways in my community so I hope that keeps going.”
Jake
“Identity. If someone random stranger asked me what I am, scout isn’t the first thing that pops to mind but it is one of them. But I think throughout scouting you really learn about yourself, and grow as a person with your fellow scouts and I think that is pretty important.”
Will
“I’ve learned to be kind to people. It’s part of the scout law, be kind. And it really goes a long way. When you are being kind to people, they notice it and are kind to you back.”
The Praters finished their Eagle Scout requirements within several months of each other, but decided to have their ceremony with all of them together. To hear more about the Praters and their significant accomplishment, a future In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard will feature the brothers experiences and service projects, and can be heard live on KNIA and on KNIAKRLS.com.
