With the expansion of the Missouri Valley Line Constructors and Apprenticeship and Training Program in Indianola, the Indianola City Council recently discussed the expansion of E Iowa Avenue to better serve the area. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the council has prioritised growth, and the city has applied for a grant to help limit the overall cost of the project.

“The estimated cost for the extension of E Iowa was around $1.5 million. You take out the engineering costs which is not eligible for the grant, it goes down to $1.2 million, and the grant is for half that amount so we are looking at a little over $600,000 in savings which we feel good about receiving, and helps bring down the cost. This is an important infrastructure project which will help open up the industrial park development in that area.”

The new facility in Indianola will be located at 1600 E Iowa Ave, and projected to cost $13.5 million, and will bring in approximately 3,500 students each year. For more information on the road expansion, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
