The Melcher-Dallas Saints traveled to Seymour High School last night for a Bluegrass Conference rematch, after the Saints hosted the Warriors just a few weeks ago. The Saints girls lost 48-39. Kynser Reed led the team with 21 points, Grace Overgaard had 6 points and 8 rebounds, and Freshman Destinie Swanks also contributed 6 points and 4 rebounds. They fall to 5-6 overall.
The boys also lost last night with a final score of 66-37, turning their record to 4-6. Steven Krpen led the team with a double-double in 13 points and 12 rebounds. Krpen and his twin brother have led the team in all statistics this season, and Head Coach Jim Wells says the pair bring a lot to the court on any given night.
“Them guys have been playing basketball for a lot of years and their knowledge of basketball is probably over and beyond most high school kids because of how hard they study and how hard they play the game, and not only do they play hard out there but they do a very good job of sharing the basketball and making sure everybody’s in the right position and you know they are the kids you play 32 minutes a game if all possible and you know they’re going to play hard heavy and smart out there.”
The Saints will be back on the court Friday to take on Orient-Macksburg. The girls game will tip off at 6pm, followed by the boys.
