pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville Trojans dropped a pair of games Tuesday night as Woodward-Granger would beat the Trojans 44-16 in the girls game and 62-59 in the boys contest. In the girls game Pleasantville would be outmatched from the start as leading scorers sophomore Adi Adreon and senior Josi Hutchings would not play due to injury. Pleasantville would get behind quickly and trail 14-6 after the first quarter and would be held scoreless in the second quarter to trail 29-6 at the half. Sophomore Emma Anderson’s 13 points and freshmen Finley Fitzgerald’s 10 points would prove too strong for Pleasantville as the Hawks would cruise to the 44-16 win. Pleasantvill fals to 4-5 on the year and Woodward-Granger moves to 9-1.

The boys game would almost be polar opposite of the girls contest as the Trojans would battle hard against the one loss Hawks and only trail 13-12 after one quarter of play before leading by one at the half 23-22. The Trojans would be lead on the stat sheet by senior Teron Mount and his 19 points but it would be the play of junior Colby Sandholdt who would spark the Trojans in the third quarter. The play by Sandholdt would help lead the Trojans to 10 unanswered points to finish the quarter and tie up the game at 41 to end the third quarter. The Trojans and the Hawks would trade baskets throughout the 4 quarter before a late steal by senior Tagen Douma would push the game to overtime tied at 54. The Hawks would prove to be too much in the end and a desperate three as time expired by sophomore Mason Sheve would fall off the back of the rim as the Hawks escaped Pleasantville with a 62-59 win. Woodward-Granger moves to 8-1 on the year and Pleasantville falls to 4-4. Next up for the Trojans is a trip to Van Meter on Friday.
