PCM alumna Jayci Vos had a successful junior college softball career at Des Moines Area Community College. While she wasn’t originally planning to continue her softball career after DMACC, an unexpected opportunity arose to continue playing softball at a Division I university. When the University of Iowa coaching staff reached out to her coaches at DMACC to gauge her interest, it was something she couldn’t pass up. That has Vos preparing for her junior campaign with the Hawkeyes. She says that she is most looking forward to traveling to the corners of the country and the comradery with her teammates.
“What I’m most looking forward to is really just being with the team, being with the girls, traveling, getting to see places I’ve never seen before, just making new experiences. Getting to do it with these girls is what I’m most looking forward to.”
While Vos is officially listed as an outfielder on the team’s website, she will be used as a utility player, at least starting out. Vos and the Hawkeyes begin their season on Friday, February 7th at the Kickin’ Chicken Classic in Conway, South Carolina. The complete interview with Jayci Vos, as aired on the Radio Sports Page, is available at this link.
