After opening the game on a 22-4 run and winning the first quarter 32-10, the Simpson Storm women’s basketball team blew out Nebraska Wesleyan on the road Wednesday night 103-55, the men fell 86-64. The Storm women built a 58-27 lead at halftime, and continued their torrid pace to break the century mark for the second time this season. Five Storm players scored in double figures, including Jenna Taylor who is returning from a back injury in limited minutes, and were led by Cassie Chubb who had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Storm men couldn’t keep up with the #10 Prairie Wolves offensively, falling behind at halftime 39-28, and saw the deficit rise above 20 early in the second half. The Storm shot just 36% from the field in the contest, and had just one double-digit scorer, Kyle Wagner led the team with 10. The Storm women are now 10-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play and on a six game winning streak, the men are now 7-6 and 1-3, and both teams will next play Saturday hosting rival Central.
