The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available for free at the Knoxville Public Library. Library card holders can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films instantly by visiting the library’s website. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app. Director of the Library, Roslin Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS News library patrons can expect all kinds of really great films as part of the service. Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, world cinema, PBS, The Great Courses, and independent filmmakers. Kanopy was founded in 2008 as an educational tool for colleges and universities and now has more than 5 million users.
